Ways of Giving

Congregation Am Tikvah relies upon your generosity and dedication to sustain our vibrant community. Membership dues cover only a portion of our budget. Your ongoing support throughout the year allows us to provide the programs and services that make our community thrive.

Sponsor a Shabbat Kiddush
One of the essential components of community is sharing meals together. Every Shabbat at Am Tikvah we offer Kiddush lunch after Saturday services. Hosting a kiddush is a way to acknowledge a special milestone, such as a birthday, anniversary, or a Bnai Mitzvah! Customize your kiddush with a special cuisine or choose the traditional bagels and lox brunch! Learn more and fill out the form here.

It's a Mitzvah Annual Fund
The It's a Mitzvah Annual Appeal is the primary fundraising effort used to balance the financial needs of the synagogue with what is received from member dues. This campaign of voluntary giving provides the single greatest source of non-dues income, and enables Am Tikvah to continue to be a warm and welcoming full-service  synagogue.

Donate Appreciated Stock, Mutual Funds, or Bonds
A gift of stock, bonds, and mutual funds may provide more benefits than a cash gift. When you make a gift of stock to Am Tikvah, by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon selling the stock, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while also supporting our community. Contact the Office for more information.

Donate Through Estate Planning
Donating through estate planning, also known as planned giving, allows you to make a significant charitable contribution after your death, potentially benefiting your estate and supporting a cause you care about. You can achieve this by designating a charity as a beneficiary in your will or trust, or by donating assets like IRAs or real estate.

Memorial Plaque
In Jewish tradition, remembering our loved ones is a sacred act — allowing their memories to inspire us by the good in their life, helping us to live more fully in our own days. Through acts of tzedakah, we endow immortality of memory and spirit upon our loved ones as we help others. A memorial plaque, placed on one of our memorial boards in the Sanctuary,is a perfect way to immortalize the memory of loved ones. Learn more here.

Tree of Life
The Hebrew term etz chaim (literally “tree of life”) is a common one in Jewish life, often used to refer to the Torah. At Am Tikvah, our trees of life, one from each legacy congregation, join together in the main lobby and commemorative community members' simchas. Learn more here.

E. Safer Youth Education Fund (Restricted)

Provides assistance to families to enable their children to attend Am Tikvah School, Jewish camp within the Jewish community, and to participate in Jewish and community-related activities. This fund also supports events and activities for our youngest members, from infancy through teenage years, to experience and engage in Judaism.

Flaum Family Memorial Library Fund (Restricted)

Provides funds to catalog, maintain, and expand our library dedicated to materials on Jewish thought, history, and culture that benefit our community.

General Fund (Unrestricted)

Contributions support all of the synagogue's general expenditures for the overall functioning of the synagogue including operating, building, salary and wages, utilities, security, and ritual practices, without any restrictions on use.

Marty Segol Building Challenge (Unrestricted)

Shabbat Shirah Gala Honoree Marty Segol challenged our community to "help, in a small way, with the new rendering of the sanctuary and the courtyard." Contributions to the fund will go towards the upcoming synagogue remodel first and general expenditures second.

Rabbi's Discretionary Fund (Restricted)

This fund is maintained by contributions from congregants and community members to provide the Rabbi with a financial source for assisting synagogue or Am TIkvah community individuals needing special support at the discretion of the Rabbi. Generally these funds do not support synagogue operations.
